I'm seeing graphical errors, or my game doesn't run at all. Do I need to update my video card driver?
A common reason for software to fail is that the video card driver is not updated. This is one of the first things you should check for if you are having issues running the game. Most video card manufacturers release driver updates about every 90 days or so. These drivers fix bugs, add functionality to the cards and make games run better. You should always upgrade your video card drivers if you have a chance to do so.
To check your video card driver and upgrade if needed:
- Go to the Start menu, and select "Run..."
- Type in "dxdiag" and press Enter to find the DirectX diagnostic program.
- After the program is done loading, click on the Display tab and you'll find the name and manufacturer of your video card. You'll also find out how much video memory that video card has. You need to make sure that your video card has at least 32MB of video memory. If it does, then you probably just need to update the video card drivers.
- You can do a Google search for the name and manufacturer of your card and find links to said drivers.
